Anthony was born in Nicosia Sicily Italy.

He stood 5'6" and had a ruddy complexion with blue eyes and black hair in his youth.

In 1905 Anthony left Palermo Italy and came to New York City. He later applied for American citizenship while he was a serviceman stationed at Camp Wheeler in Georgia. He became a citizen of the USA on May 27, 1918.

In 1930 he was a private in the Marine Corp in Brooklyn NY.

When World War 2 loomed, Anthony worked for the Rapid Roller Company in Chicago, Illinois.
