A Good Woman Gone
Mrs. Mary E. Basnett died at her home in Zion City, Illinois, Thursday March 26th, after an illness of only two days and the remains were brought to Delphos Monday evening. Funeral services conducted by Rev. W.L. Cannon, of the Minneapolis M.E. Church, who was formerly her pastor, assisted by Rev. C.M. Snyder of the Delphos M.E. Church, where held in the M.E. Church Tuesday morning and interment took place at Bethel Cemetery.

Mary E. Delaplain was born in Maryland October 29th, 1830 and died in Zion City, Ill. on March 26th, 1908 aged 77 years, 4 months and 27 days.

She was married to John M. Basnett on April 11th, 1849 near Bethel, West Virginia. To this union six children were born, five boys, and one girl, of which two survive her. Soon after her marriage she moved to Illinois and in 1876 came to Kansas. She united with the Methodist Episcopal Church in Maryland at the age of thirteen years, but in her later years was a member of the Zion Church in Zion City, Ill. She is survived by one son, O.C. Basnett, of Ness City, Kansas and one daughter, Mrs. W.C. Davis of Delphos, and one stepson, Wm. Basnett, of Denver, Colorado.

Mrs. Basnett was an earnest Christian and a good woman, who will be missed by a large circle of friends.
