The funeral will be at noon Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Donald Alexander, pastor, officiating. Spring burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Cappiello-McKenzie & Cosgrove Funeral Home. Contributions may be made to the Fort Covington Volunteer Rescue Squad or the First Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Elaine M. Lucas, a brother, Earl Ashley, and a sister, Elizabeth Ashley, all of Fort Covington, and several cousins.
Born in Fort Covington on April 28, 1910, a daughter of Fred E. and Clara Gleason Ashley, she was a 1927 graduate of Fort Covington High School and a 1930 graduate of Potsdam Normal School. She married Roger H. Lucas on July 4, 1936, in Fort Covington, with the Rev. J.H. Gardner. Mr. Lucas died on Jan. 2, 1965.
Mrs. Lucas was employed in rural schools, with the St. Regis Mohawk School, Hogansburg, during World War II and later with Fort Covington High School. She was a teacher at Salmon River Central School in the elementary department until her retirement in 1966, after 30 years of service.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the New York State Retired Teachers Association and the Fort Covington Senior Citizens.
