He was born January 2, 1916 in the town of Easton, Marathon County, the son of the late Hans and Marie (Halversen) Ellefsen.
On June 10, 1961, Hans was united in marriage to Shirley Macek at Bethany Luthern Church, town of Easton. She survives.
The couple dairy farmed in the town of Easton until their retirement. Hans was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church where he was a trustee and cemetery board member for 33 years. He was also a superintendent for 8 years.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Ellefsen, Town of Easton, three children; David (Michele) Ellefsen, Helena, Montana, Martin (Trissa) Ellefsen, town of Easton and Kristine Ellefsen, Harlingen, Texas, three grandchildren; Jacob, Sarah and Amanda, one sister-in-law; Margaret Ellefsen, Wausau.
In addition to his parents, Hans was preceded in death by seven sisters; Ebba Olson, Celia Carlson, Madge Serbinsky, Johanna Brunner, Anna Youngquist, Martha Mortenson and Laura Raatz and one brother; Edward Ellefsen.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, February 13, 2009 at Bethany Lutheran Church, Town of Easton, Marathon County. Rev. Randy Van Ert will officiate. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Schmidt-Schulta Funeral Home, Birnamwood and again on Friday, at the church from 10:00 am until the time of services.
