CHESTER - The funeral for Mr. Ralph Barner Byars of Pine Ridge Road, Chester, a long-time shop supervisor for Springs Industries, will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, July 23, from Parkway Baptist Church with his pastor, the Rev. Ron Gaddy, officiating. Interment will be made in Chester Memorial Gardens with Barron Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Byars, 66, died Monday, July 22, 1996, at Piedmont Center in Rock Hill.
Born in Lockhart on Jan. 28, 1930, he was the son of the late Mr. Marshall M. Byars and the late Mrs. Pauline Belue Byars. He was the husband of Mrs. Ruby Stroud Byars.
Mr. Byars was a 43-year employee of Springs industries, serving as Shop Supervisor in the Katherine Plant before he retired. He was a graduate of Chester High School, where he was a well-remembered athlete, especially in baseball and football. He also was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Byars was an active member of Parkway Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and Sunday School teacher.
In addition to his wife Ruby, of the home, he is survived by 1 son, two daughters, a brother, a sister, and five grandchildren.
