Born in Poland. Son of Kazymierz and Tekla Mazur Strenk. Husband of Victoria; parents of twelve---Charlie, Julie (who died at about 16 months), Mary, Joseph, Walter, Josephine, Fred Jr., Helen (who died at about 9 months), Edmund (who died at about 3 months), Irene, Amelia and Victoria.

A newspaper account says Fred and a coworker died, probably instantly, in a mining accident that occurred at about 8:00 p.m. on July 12, 1939, and that Fred's body was recovered at about 1:45 a.m. on July 13. Since his death certificate states the date of death was July 13, 1939, that is the date used here.
