Raymond D. "Shorty" Fowler, 73, of Freeport died at 8:12 a.m. Tuesday (May 14, 2002) in Allegheny Valley Hospital, Harrison.

He was born July 19, 1928, in Rimersburg.

A veteran of the Army, he served in the Korean War.

Mr. Fowler was a millwright and maintenance man for 40 years at Freeport Brick before retiring 10 years ago.

He was a member of United Methodist Church in Freeport, where he was an usher and member of the Couples Class, a 40-year member of a couples card club and was involved in Freeport Little League and the International Invitational Baseball Tournament.

He enjoyed golfing, gardening and being active in the church.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Delores "Dee" J. Henry Fowler; a son, Dr. David P. (Ellen) Fowler of Fox Chapel; two brothers, Robert Fowler of Parker and Joseph Fowler of Rimersburg; and a sister, Virginia (William) Kahle of Clarion.

He also is survived by three granddaughters, Kirstin, Kendal and Kathryn Fowler, and a grandson, Brady Fowler, all of Fox Chapel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred N. and Anna E. Snyder Fowler; three brothers, Paul, Floyd and Earl Fowler; and three sisters, Florence McCall, Marie Smail and Doris Fowler in infancy.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 tonight and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in REDMOND FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 High St., Freeport. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in United Methodist Church of Freeport, 211 Fourth St. His pastor, the Rev. William White, will officiate. Burial will be in Rimersburg Cemetery, Rimersburg. Members of the church will conduct a memorial service at 8:45 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
