Kenneth E. Hunter, 65, of Bountiful, died Thursday, April 3, at the Lake View Hospital in Bountiful after a long illness.
He was born February 5, 1915 in Albion, Idaho, a son of Joseph Franklin and Josephine N. Larsen Hunter. The family later moved to American Fork where Kenneth was reared and educated.
He married Virginia Cook April 28, 1938 in Salt Lake City. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
He was a veteran of World War II and a salesman. Active in the LDS Church, he served as bishop in the Bountiful Ward he lived in.
Survivors include his wife and daughter, Carolyn, both of Bountiful; three brothers and four sisters, Glen C. Hunter, Boise, Idaho; Verne L. Hunter, Draper; Don L. Hunter, Granger; Mrs. Alice Daly, Mrs. Emma Privett; Mrs. Erma Woodcox, all of American Fork; Mrs. Roy (Norma) Riska, Crescent, Utah.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 7, at 11 a.m. in Anderson and Sons Mortuary Chapel under the direction of Roy Riska.
Verne L. Hunter offered the family prayer. Lydia Kirkpatrick played the prelude and postlude music. Frank Woodcox gave the invocation. Thella Hunter gave a life sketch and Lydia Kirkpatrick played a medley of favorite musical numbers.
Roy Riska, speaker, told of the great love Ken had for his wife and daughter. He was well-known as a kind and gentle man and was an outstanding salesman and bishop. He was loved by everyone.
Helen Searle sang a vocal solo, "Close to the Edge of Heaven" accompanied by Mrs. Kirkpatrick who also wrote the music for the song. Dedication of the grave in the American Fork City Cemetery was by Don L. Hunter.
Casket bearers were Robert J. Cook, Doug Hunter, Lynn Hunter, Harry Loader, Kay Privett and Wayne Smith.
