Mr. Sergent was employed by Gardiner Paper Mills and was president of Union Local 582. He had been a member of the Gardiner Jaycees.
Surviving are his widow Mrs. Mary Agness Sergent of Gardiner; two daughters, the Misses Magaret Irene and Dorothy Louise Sergent of Gardiner; and a son, Raymond C. Sergent Jr. of Gardiner.
Funeral services will be held at 1p.m. Tuesday at 39 Washington Ave.
