Former Greer Couple Killed In Collision

Mr. and Mrs. Harley George Adams, formerly of Eastview, were killed instantly and their son, Jerry, 5, seriously injured in a train-auto collision January 7 in Denver, Colo.

Double funeral rites were January 12 in the Church of Christ, Dimmitt, Texas.

County relatives attending the services were Ben Sorrells, Mangum; Mr. and Mrs. T.A. Adams, Granite; Mrs. W.A. Copelin, Mangum; Mrs. A.E. Wellman, Sayre.

Jerry Adams remains in a Denver hospital. His brother Claude, 3, was not riding with his parents at the time of the accident.

Adams was born in Greer county July 12, 1916. In addition to his two sons, he is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. P.M. Adams, Dimmitt, Texas; five brothers, Jeptha, Monte Vista, Colo; R.C. and Elza, Dimmitt; Jewel, Stratford, Texas; Carl, U.S. army, Germany; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Bryan, Stratford, Texas Mrs. Virgie Moulton and Mrs. Jean Newton, Dimmitt.

He served two years in the army and was stationed in Alaska.

Mrs. Adams is survived by her mother, Mrs. Ella Schrayer, Kerrick, Texas; five brothers four sisters.

Denver, Jan. 7, (AP) - A man and his wife were killed and their small son injured critically when their automobile was struck by a Union Pacific passenger train at a crossing at 48th avenue and Columbine street today.

The victims were Harley Adams, 26; Mrs. Ann Adams, 23, and Jerry, 5.

The deaths raised Colorado's 1948 traffic toll to six.
