Daniel Grant Boice, age 88, went to be with his Lord, Friday, May 27, 2016. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Boice (Schreur) and his siblings, Edith Boice, Elgin Boice, Leo Boice, Crystal VanDyke, Forrest Boice, Mary Ensing, Grace Dietz, and Dorothy Dahlman.

Dan will be lovingly remembered by his children, Dan Boice, Ellen Boice, and Paul (Amy) Boice; his grandchildren, Daniel Boice, Taylor (Janna) Boice, Brennan Boice; and many nieces and nephews.

Dan was very proud of his military service. He was in the US Marine Corps from 1945 to 1949, serving just after World War II, in China, reaching the rank of Corporal. After his honorable discharge, he decided to join the US Army 1950 - 1953. During the Korean War, he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, reaching the rank of Sergeant. Dan was a true handyman. He worked on sewing machines, cars, appliances, and as a hobby he made small toys as a woodworker. Dan also enjoyed sketching and singing. Dan was known for his kind and gentle humor.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 PM Tuesday at Cook Funeral Home in Grandville, 4235 Prairie St. SW (west building). Funeral services will be held 10 AM Wednesday at Ridgewood Christian Reformed Church in Jenison, 1571 Baldwin St. Rev. Leonard Kuyvenhoven will officiate. Interment will be at Georgetown Cemetery. In honor of Dan, contributions may be made to Ridgewood Christian Reformed Church – Benevolence Fund.
