Cynthia Troxell was born near Highland Station August 25, 1871, and departed this life at the Ensworth hospital in St. Joseph Monday, April 1, after a short illness following an operation. In the year 1892 she was married to Frank Johnson, one son, Conrad, being born to this union. A later marriage was entered into with F.M. Troxell April 5, 1896, to which union one daughter Hazel, and one son Joseph. Mrs. Troxell spent all her life in Doniphan county (sic), practically all of which was lived on the place of her birth, the Dr. Nuzum farm two and one half miles north of Sparks, hence she was well known to all in this community. During a tabernacle meeting at Sparks in July 1914, held by Evangelist Petticoat and others, she was converted and united with the Sparks Evangelical church (sic) of which she was a member at the time of her death. Though in failing health for a few years the news of her death came as a shock to all her friends. Besides her husband, two sons, one daughter, a brother Jabe Nuzum of Iowa Point, a host of relatives and neighbor (sic). The funeral was held at Sparks Wednesday at 2 p.m., and burial made in the Iola cemetery (sic).

SPARKS.
Mrs. Cynthia Troxell, wife of Frank Troxell, died at any early hour Sunday morning in a hospital at St. Joseph, where she underwent an operation for appendicitis. The operation was successful but pneumonia developed and was the immediate cause of death. The remains were brought to her home at Sparks, Monday. The funeral took place Wednesday at 1 o'clock at the Evangelical church, Rev. Butler officiating She leaves, besides her husband four grown children, three of them daughters. A brother, J. Nuzum, of Highland and a sister, Mrs. Mattie Penny, of Effingham. She was 46 years old.
