Alberta Biggerstaff

Alberta Biggerstaff, 100-year-old Sherman resident, died April 10, 2008, at the Homestead of Sherman.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 14, 2008, at Lindsey Cemetery, Randolph. Officiating will be her grandson, Rick Mason.

Arrangements are under the direction of Dannel Funeral Home. Alberta was born Sept. 9, 1907, to William H. and Lydia Lorance Jones in Fannin County. She graduated from Randolph High School and attended East Texas State University and Eastern Kentucky College.

She married Augustus Q. Biggerstaff on May 18, 1929, in Randolph. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 18, 1979, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 1, 1980. The couple moved to Sherman in 1942. She worked for Pool Manufacturing Company, Community Hospital and taught school for two years.

Alberta was one of 10 children. Only eight lived to adulthood. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Clarence Jones and Clyde Jones, and her sisters, Ethel Baker, Opal Reynolds, Gertrude Davis, Adele Brogdon and Nettie Connally. She was also preceded in death by her son, Fred Biggerstaff of Paris, her grandson Bryan Worsham Jr. of Randolph, and her sons-in-law, Bryan Worsham Sr. of Randolph and Bob Mason of Sherman.

She is survived by daughters, Barbara Worsham and Ann Mason, and daughter-in-law, Barbara J. Biggerstaff. Grandchildren surviving are Dena Worsham and Linda Moore; Rick Mason, and Robin Mason Holder. Other grandchildren surviving are Brett Biggerstaff and Bruce Biggerstaff of Garland, and Tamara Biggerstaff of Paris. Also spouses of her grandchildren, Janet Mason, Greg Holder, David Hisbrook, Rick Moore and Pam Biggerstaff. Alberta is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren, one great-greatgrandchild and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give special thanks to Grayson County Home Health, Heart to Heart Hospice, and the staff at the Homestead of Sherman.
