Clifton Park - Arthur C. Lear Jr. 82, died Thursday at St. Clare's Hospital in Schenectady. Mr. Lear was born in Cohoes on October 3, 1919 and was the son of the late Arthur C. and Seigne Gustafson Lear. He moved to Waterford in 1936 and graduated from Waterford High School in 1939.

Mr. Lear worked in the Mohawk Laundry until joining the U.S. Army during WWII, serving in the 8th Signal Company. His tour was in the Northern Normandy Campaign and Northern France. Mr. Lear was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the Bronze Star Medal and four Bronze Service Stars. He was honorably discharged on October 13, 1945.

Mr. Lear graduated from the Joliet Institute of Management specializing in laundry management and had also attended various laundry seminars. He operated O'Malley's Laundromat in Latham from 1955 until leaving to work for Albany Medical Center Hospital in 1961. He managed the Albany Medical Center Hospital Laundry until retiring in 1983. Mr. Lear was a member of the Watervliet Elks #1500, the American Legion Mohawk Post #1450 in Halfmoon, Shenendahowa Senior Citizens and a member of their pinochle group and was the treasurer of the Laundry Managers Laundry Association. Mr. Lear was a communicant of St. Bernard's Church in Cohoes.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Doris Alund Lear, his loving children and cherished grandchildren. and his two sisters. He was predeceased by his two children, Jay Thomas Lear and Mary Helene Lear. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday morning at 9:30 at St. Bernard's Church in Cohoes. Burial will be private for family and there will be no calling hours.
