From the Delta County Independent August 26, 1898:
"Bert Lowe, brother of Ben Lowe, of this county, is a member of the First Colorado regiment and is now in Manila with the rest of the boys."
He was a brother of Ben Lowe who was killed in a gunfight with Cash Sampson in Escalante Canyon. Bert was arrested with his brother Ben by the Mesa County sheriff in 1902 for making threats against members of the Mesa County Cattle Growers Protective Association, presumably arising out of the brothers' alleged cattle rustling activities.
