LeFanu, Elizabeth, younger sister of Alicia, married Captain Henry LeFanu, brother of Joseph LeFanu and Philip Lefanu. Elizabeth's daughter, Alicia, was author of The Indian Voyage, Strathallan (1816), Helen Monteagle (1818), and other novels, besides a volume of poetry (1812).

From Chuck Spell:
Dr. Thomas Sheridan DD married Elizabeth McFadden. "Quilca" was part of her marriage dowry.

(She was described as a very ill-tempered woman).

Jonathan Swift wrote 'Gulliver's Travels' while staying at "Quilca".

In "Betsy Sheridan's Journal, Letters from Sheridan's Sister" on page 213, we see the following:

QUILCA: The Farm in County Cavan where Thomas Sheridan's father [ the reference here is to Dr. Thomas Sheridan DD ("The Elder") ] had entertained Swift and Stella. Thomas Sheridan had improved it, but was forced to mortgage it in 1756 to his brother-in-law Sheen and to Williams LeFanu. It descended to Alicia's grandson Joseph Sheridan LeFanu, the novelist, and was sold after his death in 1873.

[ Sheen - presumably John Sheen husband of Anne Sheridan. Ann Sheridan-Sheen was the sister of Thomas Sheridan ("The Younger") and was daughter to Dr. Thomas Sheridan DD ("The Elder"), and was mother to Elizabeth Rebecca Sheen ("Bee"). ]

Note : More research is going into this. Elizabeth Rebecca Sheen is reported to have married James Plunkett Sheridan. Dr. Hugo Grotius Sheridan MD has been reported (but not proved yet) as a child of James Plunkett Sheridan and his Wife (and cousin) Elizabeth Rebecca (Bee) Sheen.

Should we eventually prove that Elizabeth Rebecca Sheen-Sheridan is the mother of Dr. Hugo Grotius Sheridan MD, that would show Dr. Hugo Grotius Sheridan MD to be a First Cousin Once Removed to the RH Richard Brinsley Sheridan.

We MAY eventually prove Dr. H.G. Sheridan MD to be related to RH Richard Brinsley Sheridan through Dr. Sheridan's mother and father.

[ Betsy Sheridan (1758 – 1817) is Elizabeth Anne Sheridan, daughter of "Thomas Sheridan, ("The Younger") (1719 – 1788). Betsy is thus a sister to RH Richard Brinsley Sheridan.

In her Journal, Betsy refers to "Bee" as Rebecca Sheen, daughter of Betsy's Aunt, Anne Sheridan-Sheen ]

Dr. Thomas Sheridan DD ("The Elder") married Elizabeth McFadden. [ Reference 'Richard Brinsley Sheridan Geneology – Chart' ]

Their son Thomas Sheridan ("The Younger") married Frances Chamberlain

Their Children were:
Charles (1750 – 1806),
RH Richard Brinsley (1751 – 1816),
Alicia (1753 – 1817) [ Married Joseph LeFanu in 1781 ]

Elizabeth Anne/Betsy (1758 – 1837) [ Married Henry LeFanu in 1789 ]

RH Richard Brinsley Sheridan married 1st Elizabeth Linley in 1773.

Their Son Tom (Thomas) Sheridan was born on March 17, 1775. He married Carol Callendar.

Carol Callendar's Maternal Grandfather was Alexander MacDonnell, 5th Earl of Antrim.

[ Reference Plunkett-Sheridan Connection ]

Among Tom and Carol's children were:
•Helen Selina Sheridan who married Price Blackwood, 3rd Baron Dufferin
•Sarah Elizabeth Caroline Sheridan who married George Norton and later Sir William Stirling
•Jane Georgiana Sheridan who married Adolphus Seymour, 12th Duke of Somerset.

Sarah Elizabeth Caroline Sheridan is also "Caroline Norton" who was rumored to have had an affair with Lord Melbourne, Prime Minister and Private Secretary to Her Supreme Royal Majesty, Queen Victoria.

George Norton lost his case for 'Criminal Conversation' against Lord Melbourne.

The Family has always maintained there was no affair between (Cousin) Caroline and Lord Melbourne.
