Gerald "Jerry" Wayne Carpenter died of natural causes after his long battle with Parkinson's on May 26, 2016 at his home in Camarillo.
Jerry was born on April 21st, 1947 in Ventura, CA. He graduated from Hueneme High School in 1965. Jerry attended Ventura Junior College and Northridge University. He worked as an orderly at the St. John's Hospital on F Street and the Townhouse Senior Home. He attended USC for Band and ROTC and was commissioned a Lieutenant in the Air Force Reserves. Jerry then joined the Marine Corps at MCRD San Diego, and trained as an Avionics Technician at MCAS Yuma AZ. He attended Arizona Western College and received an Associate Degree in Broadcasting. He was married on May 22, 1971 to the love of his life, Judith K. Foster, at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Port Hueneme, CA.
Jerry's firefighter service includes the Rural Metro Fire Department in Yuma, AZ. Yuma City Fire Department and the California Department of Forestry (Cal Fire). His last assignment was as Captain, at the Ventura Camp in Camarillo, CA where he fought wildland fires.
He is survived by his wife Judith K. Carpenter, his sons Jeremy (Jennifer) Carpenter and Jonathan Carpenter. Grandson Bradley Carpenter. Parents Orvene and Georgia Carpenter, brother Dennis (Shirley) Carpenter, sister Janice (Harold) Bogner, sister-in-law Susie (Gary) Boehm, brothers-in-law Donald Foster and Michael (Melinda) Foster, and by several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be Friday, June 3rd 2016 at 3:00 pm at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park at the Mausoleum. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Michael J Fox Foundation at www.MICHAELJFOX.org in Jerry Carpenter's name.
