Mrs. Loraney (Crawford) Ablard was born May 31, 1850 in Wayne County, Indiana. She died at her home near Delphos, Kansas on October 20, 1923.

She married Alfred Wells in Henderson county, Illinois. He died nine months after their wedding day.

After her husband passed she went to work as a school teacher. On a vacation to Kansas to visit relatives and friends she met William John Henry Ablard. They were married at her home in Illinois on Feb. 2, 1879. To this union were born three sons, Frank C. of Glasco; Arthur Perle (deceased), and William Monroe Ablard of Delphos.

Lanier is survived by eight grandchildren. Mr. Ablard died when the children were small.

She was a teacher by trade and raised her boys to manhood. Her life was an active, and characterized by devotion to duty.
