She received her education in Cleveland, OH and later came to St. Joseph Hospital in Aurora to continue her nursing career. She was united in marriage to George Dobson on May 13, 1941 and they made their home in Elburn. Following George's death in 1967, she continued to make her own home and worked with Dr. Maxwell, D.D.S. in Batavia for a time. In 1972 she and Robert Wandling were wed and the following year, they moved to Green Valley, AZ. In 1984, following Robert's death, Agnes returned to Elburn to be with her family of friends, especially Doris and Rich Hall, Vera Hall and Bob and Kay Probst.
In so many ways, a caregiver at heart, Agnes opened her home to many ailing relatives through the years. She was, by any account, a thoroughly thoughtful and generous member of the community who quietly provided for others in many unseen ways. Though recent years had stolen her eyesight, it never kept her from "seeing" the faces of her friends, feeling their needs in her heart and reaching out to them with cards, flowers and letters of encouragement. She was a member of St. Gall Church and a life member of the Delnor Community Hospital Women's Auxillary.
She is survived by one nephew, Gerald (Ann) Griffith of Tecumseh, MI, one step-daughter, Marion (Jim) Sweeny of Loganville, GA and a faithful family of friends who will never forget the sweet and spunky lady that touched their lives in so many ways for so many years.
She is preceded in death by her two husbands, her parents, one brother, one step-daughter, Joan Chilton and her husband, Don, as well as her dear friend Vera Hall of Elburn.
