MR. PADGETT

William P. Padgett, 82, 166 Furnace St., Cedartown, died Thursday morning in a Rome hospital following an extended illness.

Born in Paulding County Sept. 11, 1898, son of the late A. G. and Lucy Sanford Padgett, he lived in Detroit, Mich., for a number of years whee he was an engineer with the Great Northern Railroad. He returned to Rome in 1938 and owned and operated a motel here until his retirement. He attended the Baptist church. He was married to the former Lottie Boice who died Sept. 2, 1960.

Survivors include his widow, the former Mary Clements to whom he was married in July, 1963; a daughter, Mrs. Amelia Reeves, Marietta, s son, Gregory Joel Padgett, Cedartown; a step-daughter, Mary Lee Holland, Cedartown; four step-sons, Ralph Googe, Rome, James Googe, Lindale, Donald Googe, Rome; and Ronald Googe, Danville, Va.; a brother, Jess Padgett, Atlanta; a sister, Mrs. Essie Colbert, Dallas.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Daniel's Funeral Home with the Revs. Joe Eaves and John Sullins officiating. Interment will follow in High Shoals Cemetery near Dallas.

Pallbearers include Wayne Reeves, Donald Googe, Ronald Googe, C. L. Wisemand, Donnie Blankenship and Skipper Wood.
