Bonnie Sue Hodge Abel, 71 of The Westwood Center, formerly of Kinzer Apts Bluewell, WV & Switchback, WV, died on Sunday June, 5 2016 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center.
Born on May 22, 1945 at Crozier, WV she was the daughter of the late William "Billie" James & the late Alma J. James Godfrey. She graduated from Northfork High School, Class of 1963 and spent all of her working life in Bluewell, WV, holding jobs at Wardens Market, IGA, Bluewell Pharmacy, Kinzers Laundromat & Dicks Swiss Burger. Bonnie lived with her mother & stepfather, the late Edward M. Godfrey in Switchback, WV, before moving to Kinzers Apartments #5 in 1987 where she would spend the next 27 years, until declining health made the move to Westwood necessary. Bonnie worked many tireless hours over the years to make sure her son had everything he needed & as much of everything he wanted as possible. Her grandsons were her pride & joy and she enjoyed many many hours babysitting each of them when they were babies. She was a friend to all and would give her last slice of bread if it meant someone else would not go hungry or her last dollar if she thought someone was in need.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father & stepfather; a brother, James F. Quizenbeury and a nephew Brian K. Davidson.
She leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Ronnie Blake Hodge and wife Vanessa of Bluefield, VA; a sister Shirley Davidson and Kenneth of Freeman, WV; a brother, Randy James and wife Hallie of Freeman, WV; 2 grandsons, Ronnie Blake Hodge II of Princeton, WV & Owen Patrick Hodge of Bluefield, VA, two great granddaughter Alexa Mustard of Bluefield, WV and Veda Renee Hodge of Englewood, Ohio , a nephew Christopher B. James of Freeman, WV and other extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at Craven Shires Funeral Home Bluewell, WV at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Gary Jakes of Bluefield First Church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, WV.
