Katherine Anna Ording Gronewallor departed from this life on Wednesday evening, June 23rd, 1937, at 10:45 o'clock, at the age of 74 years, 11 months, and 23 days. Death came very suddenly from a stroke of apoplexy.

She was born in Oldenburg, Germany, on June 29, 1862, one of eleven children. She came to America in 1879, to Beloit, Kansas, where she worked for friends at Beloit. While working there, she met Mr. Theodore Gronewallor, of Delphos, to whom she was united in marriage on April 19, 1880, and to this union were born four daughters: Elizabeth Smith, of Beverly, Anna McKain, of Delphos, Louise Eilers, of Delphos, and Lena Smith, of Ada. For the first ten months after her marriage, she and her husband lived with Henry Vossman, and helped take care of Willie Vossman, who was left motherless as the result of the great cyclone that swept the country the year before.

The following spring, she and her husband moved to Mr. Gronewallor's homestead east of Delphos, where she later died. She lived there until in July, 1915, when a small cottage was bought in Delphos so as to be close to church and enable them to attend daily mass. They lived in this humble cottage and enjoyed life until death came to Mr. Gronewallor in 1925. Mrs. Gronewallor then lived for a year with her daughters, but rather than miss going to daily mass, she preferred to live alone until she was unable to care for herself, which was about three years ago, when she again lived with her children, and she spent the last years of her life with her daughter, Anna (Mrs. Eugene McKain) at the old homestead.

Her greatest treasures were her faith, her children, and her friends.

She leaves to mourn, her four daughters, 19 grandchildren, three having preceded her in death, also tow great grandchildren, besides a host of friends and relatives.

Her daughter Anna, and her husband, Eugene McKain, together with Dr. Beach, were at her beside until Death claimed her.

Funeral services were held Friday morning at 9:00 o'clock by Rev. J.G. Wolf, at the St. Paul's Church of Delphos, Kansas. She was laid to rest beside her husband in the St. Paul's cemetery at Delphos. The pallbearers were Mr. Clarence Stauffer, Mr. Will Swoyer, Mr. A.F. Vossman, Mr. John Griffin, Mrs. LawrenceHart, and Mr. Henry Steinbrock. Roy Hartley, funeral director.

She was faithful to her Master ‘until the day in a quiet place, she met her Master face to face.'
