John Webster Beatty, Jr. of Greer, SC formally of Grand Rapids, MI passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2016. John was born in PA and moved to Grand Rapids as a child.
John served in World War II in the South Pacific.
After leaving the service he became a Grand Rapids Police Officer for 14 years and in 1960 was appointed an Eastern Michigan Deputy US Marshal and later appointment Chief US Marshal.
John was a member of the American Legion, Elks Club, Catholic War Veterans and Knights of Columbus.
John was a loving husband to Mary for 63 years who predeceased him in April 2002. He had 4 boys, Paul (deceased), and 1 daughter Kathleen (deceased). He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, and too many great and great great grandchildren to count.
A memorial service will be held a Resurrection Cemetery, 4100 Clyde Park Avenue, Grand Rapids on Saturday, July 16, 2016.
