Scooter was probably born in Oklahoma (Social Security card issued there in 1973). He was murdered, along with his mother, Twila Busby, and his half-brother, Randy Busby, in their Pampa home late New Year's Eve 1993. Scooter left the home and stumbled onto a neighbour's porch. He made it to the hospital but did not survive his injuries. His half-sister, Lisa Busby, was staying with relatives and spared the violent attack. Twila's live-in boyfriend, Hank Skinner, was convicted of the murders, though he maintains his innocence.
