Sabary Barrow was a daughter of Miles and Anna Carter and widow of the late James Barrow of Campbell Hill, Illinois, where she lived with Mr. and Mrs. George Snider. Mrs. Snider was a daughter-in-law by her former husband. Death occurred January 16, 1920, at the age of 87 years, 3 months and 15 days. She came with her parents to Illinois and resided near Springerton where she was married to William Jackson Musgrave on September 5, 1849. They had born to them seven children, all of whom are dead except John V. Musgrave and William Perry Musgrave of Springerton, Illinois. December 5, 1862, her husband died while a member of the U.S. Army in the Civil War, leaving her with four small children. Three years later on July 16, 1865, she married James Barrow of Campbell Hill, Illinois. James Barrow died May 11, 1884. To this union four children were born, all of whom preceded her in death except Mrs. Ali White of Campbell Hill. Mrs. Barrow died on the old home farm, a mile west of Campbell Hill, where she lived for more than 55 years with her husband, James Barrow, as a widow, and in the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Snider. She leaves to mourn her death, besides the three children, John V. and Perry Musgrave of Springerton, and Mrs. White of Campbell Hill, four step children, F. Joe Barrow of Tamaroa, Jack and Lafe Barrow of Campbell Hill, and Mrs. G. B. Carter of Romebauer, Mo. Also two brothers, G. B. Carter of Romebauer, Mo., and Carr E. Carter of Campbell Hill, besides 25 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and a numberless host of friends and neighbors which was fully demonstrated by the large crowd of people at the funeral.
She united with the Baptist Church in early life and later with the Campbell Hill Church, where she was a member at the time of her death. Her faithfulness was known to all who knew her and her place in the church house attending upon its services never lagged until age and decrepitude made such inroads upon her that she could no longer come. 2 Tim. 4:6-7-For I am ready to be offered and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.
The funeral service was conducted at the Campbell Hill Baptist Church at 1:00 o'clock p.m. January 18, 1920, by a Rev. George A. Gordon of Ava, Illinois and the body laid to rest at the Calvary Cemetery at Campbell Hill, Illinois.
Thus the record closes on the long and useful life of one of Campbell Hill's most loved and respected citizens. She lived to a great age, the last two or three years of which made her an object of much care by them who looked after her, but as good deeds go unanswered. Three of her four living children and one of her brothers were present at the funeral.
