He played 15 seasons in the Major Leagues as a member of the Chicago Orphans, Chicago Cubs, Detroit Tigers, Washington Senators, Newark Peppers, New York Yankees and Cleveland Indians. He played every position during his career with the exception of catcher. He made his Major League debut in 1901 at the age of 25, and appeared in the 1907 and 1908 World Series as a member of the Detroit Tigers. He played in 1,150 games during his major league career. He ended his playing career with nine home runs, 972 hits, 308 runs batted in and a lifetime .257 batting average.
