Little Butch is survived by his father Russell Edward Simms Sr. mother Hazel Crisp Simms, one sister Beverly Susan Nunn along with Aunt Pearl C Poindexter and cousins Roma Gail and Caroline Hemmerle.
He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and travelled with his family to Tampa, Fla to receive treatment for leukemia which he contracted five months prior to his death. He was known at the time of his passing as "Tampa's Littlest Leukemia Victim" Among his favorite toys was a little brown duck which waddled when wound up and a train with bright red wheels he received for his second birthday which he celebrated in Tampa Hospital one week before he passed away.
