Lanny W.D. Gallup, 75, died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2001, in Stillwater.
Memorial services, with Rev. Gordon Edwards and Rev. Trudy Morphew presiding, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church.
Services are under the direction of Strode Funeral Home.
He was born July 9, 1926, in Stillwater to Willis "Bill" Delaney Gallup and Ione Phenis Gallup.
After graduating from Stillwater High School he served in World War II as a Navy Radioman First Class. After the war, he attended Oklahoma A & M.
He married Martha Jeanne Ryan June 3, 1953.
In 1963, he earned his M.S. in economics and for 35 years taught at Oklahoma City University as a professor of economics.
He also served as associate dean of the business school. His career highlights include developing and teaching M.B.A. programs in southeast Asia.
He served as deacon at the First Presbyterian Church. He and his wife enjoyed traveling abroad and square dancing. Among his many passions, he loved music, especially opera.
When he retired in 1995 he returned to Stillwater and served as president of the College Gardens Neighborhood Association; chapter advisor of SAE, OSU; was a member of the Stillwater Building and Trades Board; and was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church.
He was a loving son, husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his wife of the home, he is survived by two sons, Lant M. Gallup of Oklahoma City and Ted E. Gallup of San Diego, Calif; two grandchildren, Presley A.J. Gallup of Stillwater and Haley M. Gallup of Arlington, Texas.
Honorary pallbearers will be Winfrey Houston, Gerald Bradshaw, Clint Garrett,
Mickey Smith, Max Johnson and Neil McGuffee.
Honorary SAE pallbearers will be Steve Burshek, Taylor Farr, Jack Laubach,
Matt Mieir and Taylor Wellhauson.
Memorials may be made the Youth Fund of the First Presbyterian Church of Stillwater.
