Uncle Ed joined the army when he was 21 years old. He and a friend were working in the north west and it was getting cold fast that year. When they signed up the recruiter asked them where they would like to be sent. Ed spoke up and said anywhere it was warm. He was sent straight to Ft. Bliss, El Paso, Texas. Right to the desert and the First Calvary Division. THE real horse unit. He had never been around horses in his life, but he did get to a warm place during summer and winter.
His offical EOD was Nov. 6, 1929 and his RAD was Nov. 30, 1952. Ed served as a horse soldier, a mess sergent and cook and Commander of a German POW camp in Arkansas from 1943 to 1945. He did a tour of duty in Japan and Korea until his retirement.

Ed married my aunt Farris Kinser on sept.1, 1940. in Ft, Stockton, texas. they had two sons. shortly after the birth of their 2nd son, Ed left my aunt and she obtained a divorce. when uncle Ed retired from the military he lived in Missouri and became a successful real estate person. then some 40 years after their divorce, Uncle Ed and Aunt Farris remarried around 1988, and lived happily ever afterwards until his death in 2003.

at his death he was survived by his wife, 2 sons, and 4 grandsons.NOW IN 2007 HE HAS A GREAT-GRANDSON.

HIS INTERNMENT IS IN Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas. he had a full military honor guard at his grave side service,
Cause of death was heart failure as a result of complications caused Lewy body bementia.
