DEAN C. GREENE, 85 years of Whiteford, MD, died on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Lorien in Bel Air, MD. Married on April 26, 1958, he was the husband of the late Louise (Williams) Greene with whom he had shared 49 years at the time of her death in May 2007.
Born on December 3, 1930 in Akton, Ohio, he was a son of the late Hiram C. and Ruth (Craft) Greene and participated in 4-H for 12 years where he earned numerous awards and honors. Having grown up on a livestock farm, the love of farming and agriculture was instilled deeply in Dean, and he milked cows at the Mcguirk Farm from 1958 until 1967. Dean was a John Deere man through and through.
Following farming, Dean worked for Harford County Water & Sewer as a County Inspector for 30 years, retiring in 1993. He was longtime member of Delta United Methodist Church, enjoyed playing bingo and bowling. Going to the Iron Birds game was certain a event he loved. In addition, he followed the Baltimore Ravens and Orioles teams.
He is survived by: Two children-Steven Clifton Greene and his wife, Anna of Delta, PA, Dawn Maria Scarborough and her husband, Jeffrey of Delta, PA, Grandchildren- Jeremy and Rachel Greene; Kelsee Peiffer (Andrew) of Whiteford, MD; Patrick Scarborough.
He is remembered by his wife’s siblings: June Atkin and James Zane Williams.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 12, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA where the funeral will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday. Pastor Rodney Stamper and Elder Rob Lins will co-officiate. Interment will be in Jarrettsville Cemetery, Jarrettsville, MD.
