Elnora was the oldest of 5 children of Elijah Harry Barnes (1902-1973) and Mary Ellen Hall (1905-1995) who are buried at Wichita Park Cemetery located in Wichita, Kansas. Elnora's brothers and sisters are Gene Harry Barnes (1928-2007), Margie Marie Barnes, Mary Pauline "Polly" Barnes, and Robert Dennis "Bob" Barnes.

Elnora's mother had a sister, Faye Hall, who was also living nearby when Elnora was born. This would seem to be the source for Elnora's middle name?

Elnora graduated from North High School in Wichita, Kansas in 1945.

Elnora Barnes was married to Neal W. Sedam on May 4, 1947 at Bethel Methodist Church. The minister was Rev. Elmer Rinkle, minister of that church. This church building with wood siding was replaced by a new church building constructed of silverdale stone in 1950 and is located directly behind where the old church once stood at 250 N. Meridian Street, in Wichita, Kansas. Elnora and Neal had children Diane K. Sedam, Gail Sedam, Sandra Sedam, and Jackie Sedam.

Starting about her senior year in high school, Elnora worked at Sam Razook's grocery store, which was located on the southwest corner of Central and St. Paul Streets in Wichita, Kansas, a building that still stands in 2015. Elnora later worked at a grocery store located on the northwest corner of Harry and Hydraulic Streets in Wichita, the same building her father had once helped construct as an employee of Herb Gogswell Construction. This ex-grocery store building, which still stands today, was later remodeled and has been in operation for many years as a laundromat. Elnora later worked as a cashier for The Giant Department Store which opened in 1961 on south Oliver Street and George Washington Boulevard in Wichita. For many years Elnora worked as a cashier for Bayouth's Grocery in Wichita for both the original store which operated for more than 50 years at the northwest corner of Douglas Ave. and Dodge Streets, and also their other grocery store which was located at Central Ave. and West Street. Elnora was highly valued as an employee and friend of the Bayouth family who sent beautiful flowers for Elnora's funeral.

In 1986, Neal and Elnora lived at 307 N. Edwards Street in Wichita. (Return address on envelope from Ellie to sisters Margie and Polly.)

Neal and Elnora lived for a few years in Severy, located in Greenwood County, Kansas.

Neal and Elnora last moved to the town of Caldwell, in southern Sumner County, Kansas where they lived on the southwest corner of Fourth Street and south Main Street, and is the house where Elnora died. A photo of this house can be seen on Neal's page.

Graveside services were held Saturday, May 1, 1993 at 10:30 a.m. at Caldwell City Cemetery, Caldwell, Kansas with Reverend John Thompson officiating. Elliott-Schaeffer Mortuary of Caldwell was in charge.

Neal and Elnora's marker is easy to find as it is located in the very northeast corner of the cemetery.
