B-24H Liberator #41-28900*, assigned to the 28th Composite Group, 11th Air Force, was dispatched to seek out Japanese shipping targets in the Aleutian Islands of Alaska during World War II.

Two B-24s went missing during this mission.

None of the ten crew members of B-24 #41-28900 were ever recovered. The route to the target was low overcast with squalls and fog. No trace of the plane or crew was ever found. The plane is believed to have been lost in the sea near Cape Adagdak, Adak, Alaska. The crew were originally listed as Missing-In-Action (MIA) and was later reclassified as Killed-In-Action (KIA) in April 1946.

*B-24D #41-23822 and B-24D #41-23900 are also shown by some sources as the missing aircraft serial number. Which brings the question: were "H" models in service in January, 1943?
