Thomas J. Stafford, known to a great many people from his work from
boyhood at Paul Eaton's soda fountains, died last night at the home of
his sister, Mrs. R. L. Aaron, on East Third Street, at the age of 21. He
has been a sufferer for two months from a rheumatic affection that
reached his heart. He had shown such fine talent for business that
everybody who watched him grow up predicted a promising future for him.
He was the youngest son of the late James Stafford, one of the
well-known pioneer business men. Both his mother and father died ten or
twelve years ago, and P.V. Healy was appointed guardian for the estate.
Thomas attended the parochial school until seven years ago when he went
to work for Paul Eaton.
