He was born in Glasgow, Scotland and arrived in 1912 where he resided in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was an accountant by trade however, he traveled back and forth from Canada to the U.S., where he raced horses. He was owner and part owner to a couple of horses. He married and divorced Mary Provan Wilson. They had 3 children that I'm aware of.
