Herbert Stone was a son of Joseph S. and Anna Stone who are buried in the same family lot at Burrton Cemetery.
Herbert married Laura Anna Belfield.
Charles "Joe" Stone wrote that his brother Milburn was born on their grandparent's (Belfield) farm, known as the old Page place, located west of Burrton.
Some of Herbert's professions included grain buyer, grain elevator operator, and he was also the manager of a couple of general stores.
Their children included Glennis Stone, Hugh Milburn Stone (1904-1980), Helen Stone and Charles Joseph "Joe" Stone (1913-2003). Milburn became famous for his portrayal of Doc Adams on the television series Gunsmoke.
Family records indicate that Herbert died of influenza.

"Hebert Stone Dead - Herbert Stone died on last Friday at a hospital in Wichita following a long illness. About six weeks ago Mr. Stone was taken ill with pneumonia at his home at Larned, Kansas, and his death resulted from a complication of that disease. He was taken to Wichita, several weeks ago and placed in a hospital that he might receive the best of medical attention. Death was not unexpected for the past few weeks.

He was married to Laura Belfield September 29, 1898. Four children were born to them, Glennis, Milburn, Joseph and Helen. All of these survive except baby Helen who preceded him on January 23, 1917. He also leaves to mourn their loss a father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Stone of Wichita, two sisters and three brothers, Austin Stone of Wichita, Mrs. Alice Cummings of Los Angeles, Calif., J. A. Stone of San Francisco, Calif., W. E. Stone and Mrs. E. A. Durlinger of Burrton, and many other relatives and friends.
In early boyhood he was converted and united with the M. E. Church and remained a faithful member until death, being at the time of his death a member of the church at Larned, Kansas.
Mr. Stone lived in Burrton until after he had grown to manhood, and had a very large number of friends living here. He was exceptionally well liked and highly respected by all. His many friends here are grieved by his untimely death.
Funeral services were conducted by at the Burrton Methodist Church on Sunday afternoon by Rev. W. T. Danner of Hutchinson. Interment took place in the Burrton cemetery. A very large crowd of the deceased man's friends were in attendance at the funeral services to pay a tribute to the memory of a good and greatly respected man, and many beautiful floral contributions covered the casket. Many out-of-town people were in attendance at the service."
