James J. Neil, age 89, of Lake Alfred, FL, formerly of Franklinville, NJ, passed away on June 11, 2016.

Mr. Neil honorably served in the US Army as a Korean War Veteran, serving with the 25th Infantry, Tropic Lightening Division, reaching the rank of Corporal. Mr. Neil was a proud recipient of two Purple Hearts. He served as Jr. Vice commander with the VFW Post 1801 in Clayton, NJ. where he was also Poppy Chairman.

He worked as a tractor trailer driver with the Teamsters Union Local 676 for over sixty years, retiring from Willamette Industries in 1991.

James was raised from a young age by Grace Matilda Neil and adopted at age 17 by her. It wasn't until he was 72 years old that he discovered who his biological parents were; Thomas Philip McKeown and Dorothy Reynolds.

Beloved husband of the late Elizabeth M. Neil (nee Duffy). Survived by his children; Colleen H. Jones, Gary J. Neil, John D. Neil, Eileen M. “Lee” Huber, and their spouses. He was also the loving father of the late Glenn Neil. Loving grandfather of 11 and great grandfather of 9.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Friday, June 17, 2016 from 10:00am – 12:00 noon at the Farnelli Funeral Home, 504 N. Main Street, Williamstown, NJ, where a service will follow at 12:00 noon. Burial service will be at the Gloucester County Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, 204 N. Tuckahoe Rd, Williamstown, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3 Eves Drive, Suite 310, Marlton, NJ 08053 and/or to Good Shepherd Hospice Home, 105 Arneson Ave., Auburndale, FL 33823.

** Dad planned to have his burial with Mom at Hillside Cemetery in Roslyn, Pa but was undecided on being buried at the Gloucester County Veteran's Cemetery in Franklinville, N.J. His name and birth date are inscribed on Mom's headstone but he is interred in the Gloucester County Veteran's Cemetery in Franklinville, N.J.
