WEBER CITY, VA - Bennie Evelyn Reed, 92, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at her home in Weber City, VA with her family by her side after a brief illness.

She was born in Scott County, VA no January 1, 1924, living her entire life there. She was a stay at home housewife, and mother. She was of the Protestant faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 and one half years, Claude Raymond Reed; her parents Oscar Folgeman Peters and Vada Estell Peters; sister-in-law, Charlotte Peters; brother and sister-in-law, O.J. Reed, Jr. and wife Sara and sister-in-law, Thelma Reed; an infant son; infant granddaughter and infant great great granddaughter.

She is survived by a daughter, Rita Wilmoth and husband, Wayne of Mt. Carmel, TN; a son, Benny Reed and wife, Barbara of Gate City, VA; brothers, Harold Peters of Payson, AZ, Oscar F. Peters, Jr. and wife, Betty of Gate City, VA; sister-in-law, Monette Quillen; 4 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her wonderful caregiver Patsy Sloan, who has helped take care of her for the past 2 years. We consider her a friend and a part of the family. The family would also like to thank Wellmont Hospice, the home health staff and Shelby Cantrell for their tender loving care during her last days.

The family will receive friends from 11-1p.m., Saturday, June 18, 2016 at the Gate City Funeral Home or anytime at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Paul Blessing officiating. Her son Benny will share some thoughts about his mother and a poem he wrote.

Burial will follow the service at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Wayne Wilmoth, Jerry Wilmoth, Anthony Wilmoth, Charles Hartgrove, David Reed, Phillip Hickman, Brandon Arnold and Daniel Salyer will serve as pallbearers.
