Puah Bullard Mellen, the daughter of Col. John and Mary {Bullard} Mellen of Holliston, Mass., married Lewis Putnam originally of Grafton in 1826. Lewis was in the tailoring business in Westborough, Worcester and Boston. Lewis and Puah had three children: Jane Mellen, b. 1832, Mary Mellen b. 1834 and Albert Lewis Putnam b. 1838, the third child and only son died in 1841 (same year as his mother, possibly from childbirth).
