Edward G Butler was the son of John Henry Butler and Rebecca Camps. He served in the CSA, and after the war, e married Catharine Chavasse in 1879. They had nine children

MR. BUTLER PASSES
E.G. Butler, a prominent citizen of Henderson and father of Mrs. John Hill Tucker of Charlotte, died at his home in Henderson yesterday morning after an illness of only a few days. Mrs. Tucker went to Henderson some weeks agao to visit her father and was there when he died. Dr. Tucker went to Henderson today to attend the funeral.
Mr. Butler was 75 tears of age. He was a Confederate veteran and served gallantly throughout the war between the states. For many years he had been a leading figure in that section of the state in which he lived. He is survived by four children, Mrs. Tucker, two unmarried daughters and a son.
