MRS. MARY BENEDICT IS SUMMONED LAST EVENING

Mrs. Mary Benedict 78 widow of Benjamin Benedict, residing at 2102 North B street, died at 8:45 o'clock last night of infirmities of age. She had been in ill health for several weeks. She was the oldest of five children born to John and Rachel Waymire, being born in Wayne County, Indiana January 18,1849 and when five years of age removed with her parents to this community of which she has been a resident since. She was married to Benjamin Benedict on December 21, 1865. Mr. Benedict died on December 21, 1895. She was a member of the East Main Street Christian Church, being active in its affairs when her health permitted. Mrs. Benedict enjoyed a large circle of friends and was held in the highest of esteem by all who knew her. Surviving are eight of her eleven children; John Benedict of Mississippi, David Benedict of Alexandria, Mrs. Harry Karch, Mrs. Zenith Douglas and Mrs. Otis Farr, all of Elwood; Benjamin and George Benedict both at home. There are twenty seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at the Christian Church Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock by the pastor Rev V. Hayes Miller, assisted by Rev. Polly Couch Bowman and burial will follow in the city cemetery.
