Joseph Thomas Bannan, 87, of Boynton Beach, FL and formerly of New Shrewsbury, NJ and Colts Neck, NJ, passed away on Friday, December 28, 2012. He was born on September 15, 1925 in Elizabeth, NJ to Joseph and Katherine Bannan. He served in the United States Navy from 1943-1946 in the Pacific Theatre. He married his wife, Dana in 1955 at St. Leo's in Irvington, NJ. He worked for International Flavors and Fragrances, Inc. in New York, NY and retired in 1989 as Senior Vice President of Fragrance Sales-U.S. He was affiliated with the Cosmetic Industry Buyers and Suppliers Association, Direst Selling Association, Fragrance Foundation, Cosmetic, Toiletries and Fragrance Association. Mr. Bannan was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church in Boynton Beach, FL. He was a former member of the Navesink Country Club in Middletown, NJ and the Palm Beach Yacht Club, West Palm Beach, FL. He was a member of Quail Ridge Country Club in Boynton Beach FL. Mr. Bannan was an avid tennis player. He enjoyed music, reading, automobiles and traveling. Mr. Bannan was a Director of Palm Beach Habilitation Center, Lake Worth, FL, Past President of The Association of Retarded Citizens, Monmouth County, NJ, County Delegate to N.J. Association of Retarded Citizens, served on the Board of Directors of Monmouth County Girl Scouts, Past President of Holy Innocents Society, Monmouth County, NJ and served on the Board of Directors at Quail Ridge Country Club.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dana Bannan; sons, Neil J. Bannan of West Palm Beach, FL and Chad V. Bannan of Ocean Township, NJ; daughter, Lynn (Michael) Pilato of Boynton Beach, FL. He is predeceased by his sister, Mary Tretola.

Friends may call on Sunday, December 30, 2012, from 2PM to 4PM and 7PM to 9PM at the Lorne & Sons Funeral Home, 745 NE 6th Ave. (N. Federal Hwy.), Delray Beach. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 31, 2012, 11:00AM at St Mark Catholic Church, 643 Northeast 4th Avenue, Boynton Beach, FL 33435. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Palm Beach Habilitation Center, 4522 South Congress Avenue, Lake Worth, FL 33461.
