MRS. SARAH M. BROWN
Mrs. Sarah M. Brown, a highly respected resident of this place, passed away at her home on West John Street on Saturday, October 10, at the age of 74 years, seven months and seven days. She was the fourth to die in a family of fourteen children of William and Susannah Griffith.
Deceased was married on October 18, 1853, to James P. Brown, a member of Co. I, 22d Calvary in the Civil War, who passed away about 35 years ago. The following children survive: William H. of Pavia, Joseph G. of Bellingham, Wash., and. R. DeCharms of this place.
She also leaves a number of brothers and sisters: William P. Griffith and Mrs. Louisa Imler, of Imler; Albert, Mrs. Mary A. Clark, Mrs. Emily Wentz, and Mrs. Ellen Imler, of Pavia; Mrs. Caroline Ritchey of Altoona; Mrs. Virginia Garn of Freemont, O.; Loring E. of Omaha, Neb.; and Miss Lizzie of Martinsburg.
The funeral took place at the late home on Monday, the services being conducted by Rev. F.W. Biddle, assisted by Rev. J. A. Eyler.
Interment in the Bedford Cemetery.
Mrs. Brown was a member of the Methodist Church for a number of years and was a good Christian woman.
