John N. Beach, 71, for 17 years paymaster of the Oregon Short Line railroad at Salt Lake, died Tuesday in Los Angeles following a heart attack. Mr. Beach was born in Wisconsin, moving to Omaha at the age of 18 years. There he joined the Union Pacific system and was transferred to Salt Lake about 20 years ago. He was retired three years ago, when he moved to Los Angeles. Mr. Beach was a thirty-second degree Mason and belonged to Progress lodge No. 22, F.&A.M., and El Kalah temple. He was also a member of First Methodist church of Salt Lake. Surviving are the following children: C.L. Beach, of Nevada; Earl H. Beach, of Idaho; Fred L. Beach, Los Angles; Irene Dillabaugh, Vancouver, Wash.; Flora J Beach, San Francisco; Mary E. Beach, Salt Lake; and one brother, C.W. Beach, Chicago.
