The Rome Citizen Tuesday November 4, 1902
Christopher Hickey, aged 82 years, died at his home 138 Lock St. at 9:15pm Friday from infirmities incidental to old age. He was born in County Meath, Ireland and so on coming to this country over 50 years ago located in Fonda. He married Miss Ellen Early in Amsterdam fifty years ago last July and soon after came to Rome to live. In 1864 he enlisted in Co. D. 50th Regiment, Engineers's Corps and served until the close of the war. He is survived by his wife, two sons, and two daughters; Bernard Hickey of Waterbury, Connecticut, James H. Hickey of Patterson, NJ, Mrs. John McChrien and Miss Margaret Hickey of this city.

NB. In the 1855 Census he was living in Rome with Ellen and a 1 month old son, Patrick.
Per the 1870 US Federal Census he is listed as living in Ward 2 of Rome, NY and was a laborer living with his wife Ellen and children Bernard, Mary, James, Margaret and Catherine. His age was recorded as 53.
Also noted on Ancestry (no source) was his marriage to Ellen Early on July 19, 1852 in St. Mary's Church, Amsterdam.
In the 1880 Census his age is given as 64 and he was living with Ellen and children Bernard, James, Margaret and Catherine. (it is assumed Mary had died between 1870 and 1880).
