According to Colonel Philip van Cortlandt (Commander of the 2nd New York Regiment), "Capt. Riker among the Number who is now in Eternity he was taken Sick the 2d of May went out of Camp the 3d. Died the 8th and was Buried the 9th .. I had him Interred with the Honours of War in the Burying Yard of Valley Presbyterian Meeting About 3 miles from Camp." (from Valley Forge Legacy.
