Age 95 of West Grove, PA
Passed way peacefully on Friday, June 17, 2016 at Jenner’s Pond. She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul Arthur and Alice Dolan and her brother, Paul Arthur, Jr. She is survived by a multitude of beloved friends. Dorothy was born in Chicago, IL, on January 9, 1921 and graduated St. Scholastica Academy in 1937, Rosary College of Arts & Sciences, Dominican University, in 1941 and also completed some graduate work at the University of Pennsylvania. Retiring after 40 years with DuPont Public Affairs and Information Systems Departments, she became CEO of Imprimatur Inc. Communications Consulting for 10 years. Miss Arthur is listed in the first edition of “Who’s Who of American Women.” Dorothy was an early pioneer and active for many years in Catholic communication associations, including local CYO, Catholic Forum of the Air, Catholic TV Guild, and the International Catholic Broadcasting Association. For 44 years, she directed the Via Crucis produced annually by Rev. Roberto Balducelli, OSFS, at St. Anthony of Padua Parish, Wilmington, DE. In more recent years, she attended Sacred Heart Parish in Oxford, PA. Her remains will be interred in the family plot at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Boston, MA. Dorothy will be remembered for her dignity, thoughtfulness, solid faith, great intellect, and quick wit. She had a passion for life and for all things Catholic. She was a student her whole life and enthusiastically shared everything she learned, as well as her treasured collections, with others. She was incredibly independent and never slowed down. A master of the lost art of letter writing and always thinking of others, Dorothy’s many friends and acquaintances will cherish her hand‐written notes and clippings that often ended joyfully with “Ciao!” or “Courage!” Mass intentions will be offered for the repose of the soul of Dorothy Arthur at St. Anthony of Padua Parish, Wilmington, DE at 8:00 am on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 and at 5:30 pm on Saturday, July 2, 2016 as well as later in 2016. Mass intentions will also be offered at Sacred Heart Parish in Oxford, PA at 8:00 am on Friday, July 8th, 2016 and at 8:00 am on Monday, July 18th and throughout 2017. Please refer to church bulletins for specific future dates. Contributions may be made to the Arthur Family Foundation at 3204 Greenbriar Lane, West Grove, PA 19390 or to Catholic religious formation and vocations.
