He worked as an iron worker and welder, but at heart, he was an artist, and a remarkable one at that. Eugene was known for his fun quit-wittedness and the ability to make people laugh, even at sometimes inappropriate times. He danced to his own drum, which was part of his charm.
Eugene is survived by his wife: Ruby B. Abernathy; his son: Joshua E. Abernathy; his step father: Ron Curry; and his sisters: April Tubbs, Vickie Gammon and Jan Cook.
The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Keith Abernathy, II, are invited to a gathering of friends from 1 PM until 3 PM on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Eugene’s memory to the Kidney Foundation, www.kidney.org.
