Jean Marie Chaney 86, of Connersville went home to be with the Lord on Saturday evening, December 31, 2016 at Heritage House Nursing Home of Connersville where she had been a resident since January 2013.

She was born March 5, 1930 in Franklin County, Indiana, one of eleven children to Albert and Iva Hammons Baker and they preceded her in death. She was a 1948 graduate of Laurel High School.

On March 12, 1949 she married Edmond Chaney in Connersville, Indiana and he preceded her in death on June 18, 1998.

For a number of years, she had been lunch aide or "noon aide" at Eastview Elementary School.

She was a devoted member of the Connersville Baptist Temple where she had been a long time Sunday School Teacher. Other memberships include Eastside Mother’s Club, Anti Cant’s Class of the Eastside United Methodist Church and for a number of years, she was a Girl Scout Leader. She enjoyed camping along with her husband and friends. Along with her husband, she enjoyed visiting nursing home residents and shut in’s. She also loved gardening.

Survivors include her daughter: Cynthia Burkhart and her husband, Steve of Connersville; two grandsons: Sean Burkhart and his wife, Ashley of Richmond, IN and Dustin Burkhart and his wife, Serina of Indianapolis; five great grandchildren: Austin, Trevor, Whitney, Olivia and Emilie; a sister: Flora Gabbard of Clarksburg, Indiana and a brother, Herschel Baker, of Montpelier, IN; she is also blessed with several nieces and nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, twin sister, Joan Seeley; sisters: Lula Burris, Virginia Rowe, Laura Hutson and Frances Greer; brothers: Thurman Baker, William Baker and Robert Baker.

Funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Miller Moster Robbins Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Billups, officiating. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery.
