Samuel Raymond Blackburn Jr., 94, of Missouri City, Texas passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family and friends on Sunday, June 8th 2014. He was born in Hallettsville, TX on October 26, 1919, to the late Zelma and Samuel Raymond, Sr.

During his lifetime, he was an ordained Assembly of God minister. He pastored at several Houston area churches. He was married to the late Constance Belle Ward for 64 years until her passing on July 27, 2007. Sam was a beloved husband, devoted father, respected grandfather and great grandfather. He was adored by his entire family, and was referred to as "Papa Sam" by his many grandchildren.

His passions included: being with family and friends, discussing the word of God, telling stories of his life in Alaska, and hunting until he was 90 years of age. Sam is survived by his six children and their spouses. Additionally he was blessed with 14 Grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.

A viewing will be held at Forest Park Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer, at 9:00 am on Wednesday, with the funeral following at 10:00 am.
