Charles A. Baer, age 86, of Fleetwood, passed away on June 23, 2016 in the Topton Lutheran Home. He was the husband of Cheryle F. (Fishpaw) Baer with whom he would have celebrated 58 years of marriage on June 28th.

Born on December 16, 1929 in Fleetwood, he was the son of the late J. Walter Baer and Ruth (Schaeffer) Baer.

He attended Kutztown High School.

Charles was a U. S. Army Veteran of the Korea War. Prior to joining the Army he was a Marine reservist. After being discharged from the Army he served as a reservist in the Army for a total of fourteen years.

He worked for forty years as a truck driver working for the former Bowers Battery, General Battery and retiring from Windsor Service, Reading.

Charles loved the outdoors and spending time at his home in Lycoming County, where he enjoyed caring for his property and watching the wild life that came into his back yard to eat his generous food supply. His hobby was buying John Deere tractors and restoring them to classic condition.

He is survived by his wife Cheryle, daughter Kimberly (Baer) wife of James D. Hauser of Brookfield, Wisconsin and grandchildren J. C. Hauser of Washington D. C. and Nicole E. Hauser of Houston, Texas. Also surviving are two sisters Jean (Baer) Fegley of Fleetwood and Ruthann (Baer) Willis of Florida. Other survivors include many nieces and nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by his sisters Lillian (Baer) Coppola and Suzanne (Baer) Reed.

A viewing will be Tuesday June 28th from 9:30am to 11:00am in St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 5 West Arch Street, Fleetwood.

Following the viewing a service will be held at 11AM. Contributions in Charles memory can be made to St. Paul’s United Church of Christ.
